Here's a ridiculous piece by Dick Morris, former advisor to U.S. Sen. Trent Lott (R-Miss.) and Bill Clinton: "The Incredible Shrinking Clintons."
Morris -- who clearly has something personal against the Clintons -- argues that President Obama brought Hillary and Bill Clinton into his "inner circle" in order to marginalize them. He explains the logic by quoting former President Lyndon Johnson: "I'd rather have [my rivals] inside the tent pissing out than outside pissing in."
Granted, there might be some truth to this logic, and Secretary Clinton might appear less "marginalized" if she spoke on some of the Sunday morning talk shows. However, Morris's piece is filled with hyperbole.
For example, it states, "Hillary is reduced to announcing foreign aid packages for Pakistan while [Richard] Holbrooke does the heavy lifting." Yes, Clinton (the e-diplomat) has asked people to text "swat" to help Pakistanis, but she's also the bold woman who laid the smack down and declared that the Pakistani government was "abdicating" to the Taliban.
Morris also says about Secretary Clinton:
She doesn't look like a president in waiting; she's more like a senior staff member hoping to rise in the bureaucracy. No longer at the head of a movement or the symbol of rising women all over the world, she has faded into the State Department woodwork.
If Clinton is no longer the "symbol of rising women," then why did Vital Voices honor Clinton with its Global Trailblazer award this March?
Bizzarely, the piece says, "Bill Clinton has been asked to be a special envoy to Haiti. Yes, Haiti. … Obama gives him Haiti." From what I can tell, Bill Clinton is the United Nations special envoy to Haiti. United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon -- not Obama -- named him for the position. Plus, anyone who has advised Bill Clinton ought to know that the Clintons have a special place in their hearts for Haiti.
Strangely, Morris also writes, "Bill can't even make money" (due to restrictions on his activities because Hillary is secretary of state). The New York Times Magazine just reported, however, that the former president is jetting around the world, picking up six-figure fees for his speeches.
"Shrinking Clintons"? Whatever. They're a 21st-century power couple.

Haha, Dick Morris. Enough said.
who the hell is dick morris?
I think you meant that rhetorically, but...
On the day Bill Clinton accepted the Democratic nomination for President in 1996 (for his 2nd term), Dick Morris had to resign amid allegations that he let a $200-an-hour escort listen in on his private conversations with the president. The prostitute also shared some distasteful details about his sexual practices, but those are secondary to this gross breach of security. Clinton's rather generous response? "Dick Morris is my friend and a superb political strategist. I am and always will be grateful for the great contributions to my campaign and the invaluable work that he has done for me for the past two years." After a friendship spanning two decades, Morris then became the Clintons harshest critic, hm I wonder why, and among other charming statements last year, declared that he would leave the United States if Hillary Clinton were elected president in 2008.
'Nuff said?
Dick Morris used to be close to the Clintons and now he takes every opportunity to critize them. You will never, never, hear him say anything nice, accurate or true about the. NEVER. Get lost Dick, you bore us. You are exactly what you name suggests-a Dick!
Preeti! You sound positively besotted with Hillary! I love it!
After the Dick Morris-escort incident it was Hillary that was most forgiving regarding what happened and she did not want to see Morris publicly humiliated by the White House, ie. she has class. Dick Morris, on the other hand, is a bitter, jealous liar of sociopathic proportions.
Unfortunately, Dick Morris has made a career out of being a paid pundit for various right-wing, Clinton-hating venues. He makes lots of money doing basically one thing- trashing Hillary. Lots of folks probably remember he was frequently on Fox News during Hillary's campaign for Senate and President, spewing ridiculous lies (such as calling Hillary an anti-semite) and writing books about her which are so devoid of actual facts they should be listed as works of fiction. Media Matters did a great run-down of how many self-contradicting factual errors (ie. lies) about Hillary that he put in his book. Oh, and he's never right about anything- his book Condi vs. Hillary was a joke.
Thank you stacyx for setting the record straight. His crosshairs have been on Hillary since his famous crush on her - except in those days it was not to shoot her down. Everybody knows that Hillary refused to play footsie with him. I can't imagine what kind of fantasy world he was living in that he thought she would submit to him. He's a caveman! Since then he has lived for revenge.
Hillary's marginalized. Right! That's why Obama needed her in Cairo and also why NBC could not do a tour of the White House without a cameo appearance by Hillary who stole that part of the show looking beautiful in her powder blue pantsuit.
Somehow, Morris has found that he can cash in on this bone he has to pick with Hillary. I say marginalize HIM!
