After a busy Monday, which included meeting with Norwegian Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere (seen above), Secretary Clinton has another busy day filled with bilaterals:
11:00 a.m. Bilateral with The Right Honorable Murray McCully, M.P., Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of New Zealand.
11:35 a.m. Joint Press Statements and Signing Ceremony with The Right Honorable Murray McCully, M.P., Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of New Zealand.
1:30 p.m. Bilateral with His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates.
3:15 p.m. Bilateral with His Excellency Jorge Taiana, Minister of Foreign Relations, International Commerce and Religion of the Argentine Republic.
4:30 p.m. Bilateral with His Excellency Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabir Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar.
Meanwhile, husband Bill was laughing it up yesterday with New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg at a press conference at the Empire State Building. The two announced a plan for making the office tower "greener," with a goal of reducing its energy use by 38 percent.

Teehee. Look at Bill. So cute. ♥
Hillary's counter-parts around the world have, so far anyway, proven to be rather attractive men. Nice work, if you can get it.
But more seriously, I'd like to hear other opinions about this. It seems to me that Hillary has been permitted to make very few (any?) substantive statements about foreign policy since she assumed the post. Is it typical for the President to grab ALL the limelight and for the SOS to be working quietly behind the scenes like this? Maybe so, and I'm over-reacting because it's Hillary's limelight that's being hogged!
Actually, it is pretty typical, but it seems to me she's gaining a lot of popularity between her travels and whatever conversations go on behind the closed doors.
Yes, the men are attractive, and several seem to find Hillary attractive, too. She puts a good face on us, as well as a clear head and an articulate voice.
World leaders seem to be looking to her as a leader. THAT is more important than how the administration is availing itself of her talents. One thing they have to be careful NOT to do is cross her. That would not be a popular move world-wide.

I subscribe to the State Dept. Daily Briefings, and I find it to be an eye-opener as to what is going on behind the scenes. Away from the photo ops, endless meetings, and the whirlwind travel, the subterranean activity is astonishing! That is where the real nuts-and-bolts of the action is going on, not the up-front glad-handing and smiling.

Sign up for the Daily Briefing bulletins to get a rich taste of what Madam Secretary is responsible for each day. I can tell you she's got one hell of a job! I wouldn't want it, and I am sure glad she's up to the task!
I get those briefings too and agree - much more happens behind closed doors than in front of the camera. When you put the whole day together, she has long, hard days. Adding the travel in, it's a non-stop schedule. She's up to it, but I worry about her. It's been a rough couple of months. I hope she takes a few days of rest over Easter weekend.
She looked and sounded so tired in that Radio Free Afghanistan interview - was awesome nevertheless, but we don't want to see her get sick.
Hillary, honey - take a long weekend at least - please!
