Thanks again, loyal readers. It's so great to have new posts on Madam Secretary. To clarify, please consider this interim time to be Madam Secretary "lite." Posting won't be heavy, and I won't have much time to supply commentary due to my other editorial responsibilities (such as copy-editing and creating photos essays). I'm hoping that you all, through your comments, will be able to keep the debate alive. I hope we'll be able to bring Madam Secretary back 100 percent soon, but until then, thanks for your patience.

To get the day started, we have Secretary Clinton's schedule, which includes a 5:30 p.m. bilateral with Ban Ki-moon, secretary-general of the United Nations. Just yesterday, husband Bill was with him in Haiti, as seen in the photo below. (Does that raise any of your all's eyebrows?)

12:30 p.m. Meeting with special representative for North Korea policy Stephen Bosworth

4 p.m. Meeting with Homeland Security Secretary Napolitano

5:30 p.m. Attend the president’s bilateral with His Excellency Ban Ki-moon, secretary-general of the United Nations, at the White House.

Former U.S. President Bill Clinton, center, and United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, right, arrive for a food distribution event in the Cité Soleil slum of the Haitian capital of Port-au-Prince on March 9. The Clinton Global Initiative, an organization founded by the former U.S. president after leaving office, is deeply involved in aid projects in Haiti.

Haitian Initiatives

It's good to see this effort by CGI and the UN. I lived in Haiti for a long time and worked at the bi-national center in Port-au-Prince. It was poor then, and probably much worse now since, in my ten years there, we had only one hurricane compared with four this past season.

Our Director then, Cultural Attaché at the Embassy, was Millie McCoo. So Millie, if you still keep up reading about the FS, Hi! You were one of my fav "bosses" ever!
